Morning vs Evening Desert Safari: Which one is the Best Option for You

First, let’s go over some of the key activities you can participate in on a private desert safari Dubai tour before we highlight the main differences between a Morning and an Evening safari tour. 

1. Dune Bashing

This is an exciting ride over the dunes. As you hop aboard an SUV, you will be taken on a roller coaster ride by a skilled driver. A dune bashing activity consists of climbing up and down a dune at high speeds. Prior to the journey, the vehicles’ tires are deflated in order to allow them to move as freely as possible on the dunes. 

In total, a dune-bashing ride is expected to last for approximately 30 minutes, with a few photo stops along the way. So remember to bring along your camera for this opportunity. Remember, this ride is not for the weak-hearted, so if you have heart problems, then ask your doctor if you can participate in it or not. Inform your tour operator as well so they can ask the driver to drive on easy terrain at normal speed. Some tour operators even don’t allow kids to participate in it. 

Both Morning and Evening packages offer dune-bashing rides, with the key difference being the timing in the evening; you get to enjoy the beautiful sunset views. 

• Quad Biking 

Quad bikes are special 4×4 All-terrain vehicles you can use to travel on the tough desert ground in a thrilling manner. It is a similar experience, with the key difference being that here, you get to drive the vehicle by yourself instead of a driver. 

As a beginner, you will receive driving lessons from guided experts at your tour location, so remember to listen carefully to these instructions and get a  good command of bike controls. Take an easy route if it’s your first time, and drive at the mentioned speed limit. 

Quad biking is available for both Morning and Evening safari packages. This ride is best enjoyed in daylight since it is a little risky to drive in the desert as the light fades away. 

• Sandboarding 

In sandboarding, you strap yourself to a hard board and glide down the tall dunes at high speeds while maintaining balance on the board. It is similar to snowboarding, but there is no snow involved, hence the name. It is a completely new activity you can do on your desert safari tour and is highly recommended as well. You can learn new skills and have a memorable time on your vacations. 

Sandboarding is safe to try, and you don’t have to be an expert at this. Just remember to strap yourself tightly to the board. Even if you fall on the sand, you don’t get injured. 

• Hot Air Balloon Rides

Air balloon rides are best enjoyed in the Morning compared to the Evening timing since the temperatures are lower and visibility is clear.  

• Camel Riding 

A desert safari ride is incomplete without camel riding. As we mentioned here, you get to engage in cultural experiences, and this is one of them. Before the invention of vehicles or planes, camels were primarily used by locals for transportation, and today, you get to try them as well. On a 30-40-minute wobbly ride, you can enjoy a peaceful journey across the desert, and unlike dune bashing or quad biking, a camel ride is suitable for everyone, even children and old people.  

Camel rides in the evenings are the best highlights of a desert safari tour. You can view the changing colors of sand when riding down the dunes at sunset time. However, it is available in the Morning package as well, but the experience is not the same.
